Electronic Arts short for EA closed its game studio Pandemic and dismissed 200 employees. And the members of the core technology team in this studio would go to serve the headquarters in Los Angeles. At present, many members in this studio left EA, including the CEO Andrew Coldman, Josh Rennick and Greg Borrud in Pandemic.

The officials stated that the brand of Pandemic wouldn’t disappeared. But under the current circumstances, we could better concentrate on the the game developments only if we closed this studio. And our studio in LosAngeles would continue to provide high-quality games with the subscribers as before. But at the same time, EA stressed that they would launch new games under Pandemic brand.

The studio Pandemic was found in 1998 and purchased by EA in 2007. It developed a lot of popular AGs such as Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers, Mercenaries Playground Destruction, Star Wars Battlefront, The Lord of the Rings: Conquest and so on.

There isn’t no sign of the close of the studio Pandemic. The management of EA indicated before that the situation changed a lot in the game market. The number of subscribers who likes casual/social games is exceeded that of traditional AG ones. In addition, the players of casual games are reluctant to buy powerful desktops. They prefer to purchase computers such as netbook and laptop.
